Shipment statuses

Carriers use a variety of terms to describe parcel progress. Returnless standardizes these variations into a clear set of statuses that help you understand where a parcel is in the return process.

These statuses are shown in the Return Panel and are used to trigger tracking notifications.

Below you'll find all shipment statuses grouped by category.


1. Label & Preparation

Status Description
No label There is no label attached to the parcel.
Being announced The shipping label is awaiting announcement at the carrier.
Announced The shipping label has been announced at the carrier.
Announced: not collected The label is announced, but not yet collected by the driver.
Announcement failed The label was not successfully announced at the carrier.
Cancellation requested A request has been made to cancel this shipment. The request is still pending.
Cancelled The cancellation request was approved and the shipment is cancelled.

2. In Transit

Status Description
Dropped off The parcel has been dropped off at a parcelshop by the consumer.
Shipment picked up by driver The driver has collected the parcel from the service point or pickup location.
Being sorted The parcel is being sorted at the carrier sorting hub.
At sorting centre The parcel has arrived at the carrier sorting hub.
En route to sorting center The driver is on the way to the sorting centre.
Parcel en route The parcel is on the way to be delivered.
At customs The parcel is passing through customs checks at the border.

3. At Delivery

Status Description
Delivered The parcel has been delivered to the webshop.
Awaiting webshop pickup The parcel has been delivered to a service point and is awaiting pickup by the webshop.
Shipment collected by webshop The webshop has collected the parcel from a service point.

4. Delivery Changes

Status Description
Delivery address changed The delivery address has been modified.
Delivery method changed The method of delivery has been modified.
Delivery date changed The delivery date for this parcel was changed.

5. Exceptions & Issues

Status Description
Address invalid The provided address details are not correct.
Error collecting The parcel could not be collected by the driver.
Delivery attempt failed The parcel could not be delivered to the webshop.
Unable to deliver The parcel could not be delivered to the webshop.
Refused by recipient The webshop refused to accept the delivery.
Returned to sender The parcel was returned to the consumer.
Delivery delayed The delivery will take place at a later time or date.
Not sorted The parcel has not been sorted at the sorting hub.
Exception An exception occurred with the parcel.
Unknown status The current status of the parcel is unknown.
