Return reasons

Return reasons play a key role in understanding why products are sent back. Returnless provides a comprehensive set of standard return reasons, and you can choose which ones to activate for your return form.


How Return Reasons Work

When a return reason is activated, it becomes available for consumers to select in the return form. Customers can choose the appropriate reason for each item they are returning.

These insights are extremely valuable: in your return analytics, you can track which products are frequently returned and understand why customers are sending them back. This helps you improve product quality, descriptions, or size guidance.


Adding a Return Reason

To add a return reason:

  1. Go to Settings > Return forms > Select your return form > Return reasons.
  2. Select the reason you want to activate from the list.

The selected reason will immediately become available in the return form.

You can remove a return reason by clicking Remove next to the reason, after which it will no longer appear in your return form.


Available Return Reasons

Returnless provides a broad set of standard return reasons, covering topics such as:

  • Allergic reaction
  • Better price available
  • Color differs from website
  • Delivery is incomplete
  • Do not like the color
  • Does not work as expected
  • End of rental period
  • Fit not good
  • I changed my mind
  • I ordered multiple sizes
  • Material quality
  • No longer needed
  • No reason
  • Ordered wrong product
  • Ordered wrong size
  • Other reason
  • Product damaged on arrival
  • Product damaged
  • Product is defect
  • Product delivered too late
  • Product differs from description on website
  • Product differs from picture on website
  • Product differs from website
  • Product does not meet expectations
  • Product does not work or is damaged
  • Product looks different than expected
  • Product too large
  • Product too small
  • Quantity too large
  • Sample returned

If a reason is activated, it becomes selectable for consumers in the return form.


Show Return Reasons in Random Order

To improve the accuracy of your return data, you can enable the option to display return reasons in a random order. This helps reduce selection bias, ensuring more reliable insights.

To enable this feature, toggle Show return reasons in random order in the Return reasons settings.

If you are missing a return reason that would benefit your workflow, you can suggest one to our team. Contact Returnless Support with your request. We will review the suggestion, and if approved, we will ensure the new return reason is added with proper translations for all supported languages.
