International shipping

When shipping from or to a country outside the EU, you need to meet some requirements for us to be able to generate shipping labels:

Carrier contracts

Returnless does not offer any pre-negotiated shipping rates for shipments outside of the EU. Therefore, the webshop should arrange these rates themselves. This can be arranged by contacting any of the applicable carriers which offer international returns (for example FedEx, DHL, UPS).

Customs documents

Customs documents will be required to ship a parcel. Returnless is able to generate these customs documents for the consumer. So the consumer will be provided with a shipping label and the customs documents for their return order.

To generate these documents, Harmonized System codes (HS codes) are required. An HS code is a category related to each of your products. You can set a HS code for each product in two ways:

If the HS code is available in your webshop, send it along when we search for an order.
Set a default HS code in the shipping settings of your return form.

Paperless trade

Paperless trade is the electronic process of transmitting your customs documents. International return shipments (from customers outside the EU) require customs documentation, so the contents can be checked by local tax authorities at the border of the destination country. Usually, you need to print multiple copies of these documents and attach them to the box.

With paperless trade, your customs documentation will automatically be sent digitally to the shipping carrier and associated with the shipment. Please note that depending on the carrier and the type of shipment, your customer still need to manually add further documents or take additional steps in some situations.

* For DHL Express, please keep in mind: even if a country is on the list, there could be other factors that affect whether or not paperless trade is possible. Always check for the letters 'PLT' in the black area of the label.
